On June 23, 2025, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office received a call that four female family members disclosed having been sexually abused years earlier by their uncle, 52-year-old Timothy Jaekel. Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies spoke to the primary victim by phone, who was an adult living in Arizona. Deputies learned that Jaekel was an active Police Officer with the Lincoln Police Department (in California). The woman advised us that she had already contacted the Lincoln Police Department earlier in the day and told them of the abuse before contacting the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office. Our agency immediately notified the Lincoln Police Department of the criminal complaint.
Sheriff’s Child Abuse Bureau Detectives interviewed all four victims, and they disclosed a long-term pattern of being touched by Jaekel over and under the clothing between the ages of 8 and 16, in Sacramento County. Jaekel also asked one of the young women for nude pictures of herself when she was a juvenile. In addition to being victims, each of the four witnessed Jaekel’s inappropriate touching of other female family members.
On October 16, 2025, Detectives obtained a warrant for Jaekel’s arrest, and he was taken into custody in Lincoln without incident. Jaekel was booked at the Sacramento Main Jail, where he remains ineligible for bail.
