MAIN JAIL INMATE DEATH

On Tuesday, August 18, 2026, Adult Correctional Health (ACH) at the Main Jail requested that an inmate be transported to a local area hospital for a higher level of medical care. While hospitalized, the inmate was placed on hospice care as the inmate had a valid DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) order on file. Today, August 28, 2026, the inmate was pronounced deceased by hospital staff.

The inmate had been in custody since September 8, 2023. The inmate was pending charges of Murder.

The Sheriff’s Office will complete a thorough inmate death investigation in accordance with department procedures and state laws. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will determine the official cause of death and forward its findings as prescribed by law. The Coroner’s Office will release the name of the deceased in accordance with their protocols.
